Forty Four gorgeous screened prints designed by McKenna Ryan are in stock and online. We love them! McKenna seemed to be bubbling over with designs using them when they were shown at Quilt Market in Houston. I’m told that patterns will be coming as soon as February.
My staff and I couldn’t wait to use them. Here is a scarf that we made in just a few quiet hours. Tear a length of the fabric. This one was 80 inches (two of our 40 inch “yards.”) Tear off the selvage. Tear three strips about 13 inches each the length of your piece. Just fringe the edges. You will have three beautiful gifts! The only difficult part will be deciding which fabrics to use.

McKenna Ryan, Pine Needles Designs latest masterpiece “Out and About” is a collection of 9 building blocks. There are 9 individual 12 inch art quilts in the series. They can be sewn together with or without sashing to make one larger art quilt. The three blocks at the bottom go together easily to make a special wall hanging or table runner. The collections includes a pattern for two cute stuffed bears.
There are 68 different fabrics used in OUT & ABOUT. Five are Pine Needles screened prints. The rest are Hoffman Bali Batiks. We have all the original fabrics in stock. Our original fabric collections will begin shipping on Monday December 17. Fabric collections for the individual blocks will be online after January 1, 2008.

Quilt Market News
Hoffman Fabrics Many hours were spent looking at fabric lines for you. The very best the industry has to offer both in quality and design still comes from Hoffman. I feel very good about our about commitment. The new line of handpainted Bali Batiks is terrific as always. There are 19 new 1895’s coming. Many are the lights we have asked for. The Hoffman line includes Rayon Batiks for the first time. I couldn’t stop petting them. Delivery is promised for April. You will love them!
Watch our site for the new Hoffman Bali Watercolor Wraps. Each roll contains 2 each of 20 1895 Bali’s precut for you in 7 X 7 inch squares. There are 8 different colorways. You will be able to order all eight in a wrapped gift box. Ask Santa for them!
McKenna Ryan, Pine Needles Designs McKenna debuted her new building block series called “Out and About”. The new woodland theme features bears, fish, moose and even mountain goats. There are nine blocks in the series. We should have the patterns and fabric collections by the end of the month. McKenna personally presented her new fabrics. Everyone loved them. Better yet, it was obvious that she loves them and seems to be bubbling over with designs using them. We’ll have all the new fabrics in November and, of course, all the patterns as soon as they are out.
Be Colourful quilts by Jacqueline deJonge Jacqueline and her brother, Harm, presented her patterns for the first time at this Quilt Market. They were the talk of the show. Their booth was set up next to Hoffman and showcased all the incredible designs. I am excited for them!
Judy Niemeyer, Quiltworx Judy’s genius brings us two more quilts. She featured the new horse Bali (E217 Midnight) in “Dust Devils”. “Thistle Pods” is a star design using cool tones. We will have fabric collections for both as soon as we receive the patterns.
Bear Paw Productions from Alaska has a new design called “O Holy Night”. The technique is raw-edge appliqué on a black fabric which is called “impressionist stained glass”. It’s easy and beautiful! I hope you will make two of these 60 X 42 in wall hangings – one for yourself and one for your Church. Watch for it on our website.
4th and 6th Designs A new company started by two cute sisters. Their designs are colorful and easy. Most of them use Hoffman Bali fat quarters. You’ll love them.
Market was exciting and inspiring as always, but I am glad to be back. There will be lower prices and more Bali’s on our “specials” pages for you this week and next. We need to make room for all the new ones that will be coming. I appreciate your business and your friendship!

The move was..………well, it’s over. Please indulge a mother’s pride when I tell you that I could not have done it without my Son, Geoff. He built all our new cutting and shipping tables, designed the electric and lighting and devised a new system for organizing the now 2200 different Hoffman Bali batiks. Thanks to Geoff we now have our own server and our computers are on DSL. Everything actually works.
I’ve hired two terrific young women. (Everyone is young to me.) We are finally caught up with orders and trying to stay that way. Thank you for your patience!

Batiks Plus is the world’s largest resource for fabrics which are hand dyed in Bali, Indonesia and manufactured by Hoffman California Fabrics. All the fabrics are 44 inches wide and are 100 percent high thread count cotton. We stock the complete line including over 250 different colors in the 1895 Mottle series so often used as “solids” by quilt artists. We always have all the versatile 839 series as well as the 885 Dots. You can find the perfect color for your project easily now on our newly redesigned website by searching using the color name or series number.
We cut meters- 40 inches instead of yards. (Yardages are continuous - when you order a quantity of more than two, your fabric will be cut in one piece 80 inches long.) Our 1/2 cuts measure 20 inches and quarters are 20 by 22 inches. Long quarters are available but your order will take a bit longer to process. Fat quarters of 1895, 839 and 885 Bali’s are precut and ready to ship. Every fabric is sent in a plastic bag with a label on the bag and a label on the fabric.
The fabric is scanned using Adobe Photoshop and the most modern equipment. Please understand that your monitors may change the color or intensity. The fabrics are dyed by hand in batches of 300 yards. There can be a variance each time we receive a shipment. Every bolt comes from Hoffman with a hangtag which reads: “To our customers - These goods are unique. Each piece is hand painted. There is always variation from roll to roll, color to color. This is the beauty of these goods and is not to be considered flawed.”
Light Bali’s - You will see the most variance in these fabrics. The very natue of applying dye to the base fabric makes it a difficult process. Hoffman does it best! Our favorite light Bali’s are 1384 Cream, 1384 Glacier, 1384 Mauve, 839 Dawn (our logo was pieced with this), 839 Alabaster, and C152 Glacier.

Imagine moving 8000 bolts of fabric! It’s going to happen the second week of August. We’ll be in Olivette, Missouri, a suburb of St.Louis in the west county. We hope to get it all moved in about 3 days. They can’t get an 18 wheeler into the Farm to load so we have to do it with smaller trucks. It should be very “interesting” to say the least.
